A pair of French, faience plates, hand painted with a wonderfully naïve basket of flowers. The colour way is dramatic - with a dark brown, almost black border and a burnt orange flower in a yellow basket.

I love the fact that they’ve been used as opposed to hung on a wall. Their surfaces are full of tiny scratches -
I can’t help but imagine years and years of butter and bread and cheese and pickles eaten off them. One of them even has what looks like a name scratched to the back, they were certainly loved ! 
In good condition given that they’re over 200 years old, a couple of small very old nicks to the rim of one but otherwise in good, solid order .
