Here’s to Lark alarm clocks, orchards and earth …. A lovely early Victorian transfer mug with the Farmers toast :
Let the wealthy and great roll in splendour and state, I envy them not, I declare it For I eat my own lamb, my own chickens and ham I shear my own fleece and I wear it
I have lawns, I have bowers
I have fruits, I have flowers
The lark is my morning alarmer
So Jolly boys now
Here’s God speed the plough
Long life and success to the Farmer.
Wear commensurate with age to the rim but no nibbles, chips or cracks ! I’d say it was in excellent condition.
I absolutely love the inner rim with its hops and wheat stems. On the other side of the motto we have the farmer and his wife who is churning butter along with a whole array of farming paraphernalia and farm animals .
